Dr. Michelle Donice Gillis
Michelle Donice Gillis, Ph.D. is the founder of North Star Consulting, LLC a company that helps individuals find good health, clarity, and purpose in order to live more abundant lives as Jesus has called each of us to do in John 10:10.
With nearly 25 years’ experience working with young adults at the university and secondary level, Dr. Gillis is a seasoned educator with expertise in language arts and literacy. Additionally, she has served as an AP Reader with the Educational Testing Service and was the founding dean of The Freshman College at Bethune-Cookman University, a program designed to help high school students make a successful transition to higher education.
Dr. Gillis is a published author and frequently requested motivational speaker. She is the former host of Spotlight on Volusia County Schools (Daytona Beach, Florida) and Family Matters.
Dr. Gillis earned the Ph.D. in Educational Administration, Policy, and Foundations from The University of Florida, where she was a Barbara L. Jackson and Holmes Scholar. She received a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Sierra Nevada University, a Master of Science in English Education from Nova Southeastern University. She majored in Mass Communication with a minor in Journalism, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Bethune Cookman University.
Dr. Gillis is a 200-hr. certified yoga teacher and reiki practitioner and lives in Tennessee with her husband and dogs. She is the mother of two adult children.
Prior to remarrying, her last name was Dixon-Thompson.
